Tattooed and Employed

Tattooed and Employed:: Most visibly tattooed people are often told they’ll never have a “real job.” The tattooed community includes mechanics to doctors, soldiers to professors, and countless professions in between. We consider these to be “real jobs.”

Steadfast Brand: Employing the Tattooed Since 2007.

Get to know the man behind the art.

Born in Torreon, Mexico in 1981, I am the youngest of four. My memories of Mexico are few but of those I do remember I was constantly drawing. Whenever, wherever. My mother reminded me of my gift all the time as I grew up. Always encouraging me and enabling me. She new before I did what my true passion would become.

By the age of seven my parents decided to move to California. Leaving behind there, what I call “Cosby Show” life. My father was a lawyer, my mother a doctor. Upon arriving, there employment changed drastically. Now they were washing dishes and housekeeping. Our lives had been flipped upside down. They were tough times but with that I saw the strength my parents put up and it is something I keep close to me.

My parents chose Indio, California to raise us. Throughout school I took art classes, it came easy. After graduating from high school, I decided (with the help of family) to move to Santa Monica and attend The Art Institute where I chose to study Computer Animation. While in school 9/11 hit. After that happened it left me feeling inadequate in my life. I needed something more, my heart wasn’t in animation nor school anymore. While walking past an Army Recruitment Office and without any hesitation I went in and sat down. A few hours later I was signed up and to be leaving for boot camp within weeks.

I spent 3 years in the Army. Within that time art took a backseat. Dabbling here and there but nothing serious. It really wasn’t until about 2 years after the Army that I was given two huge pieces of MDO board to paint on. It was truly the beginning of my journey back into art.

My heart and hand took over. I sketched, I painted till late in the night. Painting on everything from shoes to bags. Within a month I filled a sketchbook full of Elvgren pinups and Olivia paintings. Soon after all that work, I started working at a tattoo shop. The tattoo world inspired my artwork a whole new life and passion. The knowledge and history of the industry was incredible to me.

I have now become what you might say, a workaholic and honestly I can say I love what I do. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. I truly eat, breath and sleep art. I work hard and will continue to do so whatever it may be.

Last but not least I am a devoted father, husband, and family man but non the less a passionate artist.

Ink Master on Spike TV

An estimated 40 million Americans have at least one tattoo somewhere on their body. So who is the country’s ultimate tattoo artist?  “Ink Master” is the first-ever tattoo competition series featuring some of the nation’s top tattoo artists on a quest to determine who is the best at their craft and who will win a huge cash prize.  Throughout the competition, the artists battle it out in various tattoo challenges that test the artists’ technical skills and on-the-spot creativity, where they must create and execute an original tattoo on command and be judged by a panel including Dave Navarro, tattoo artists and experts Chris Nunez and Oliver Peck.

Ink Masters is now in week three and the competition is getting more and more intense. Tuesday January 31st at 10 p.m. on Spike, the artists’ tattoo skills are put to test with nude models.  Check out this clip from the episode.

Jeremy Miller

Jeremy Miller is known for his new skool realism that has the precision and contour of a high-density photograph. A perfectionist by nature, he often has trouble looking at his own work because all he sees are the countless ways that he could have done better.

He has been tattooing since 1998, and is the owner of Pigment Dermagraphics and Fine Art in Austin Texas. You can also catch him every Tuesday on Spike TV’s newest show Ink Masters.

We are pumped to offer Jeremy’s prints on www.steadfastbrand.com. See all of his prints HERE.

Aaron Is Seminar At the Philly Expo!

Whether you know him or not, love him or hate him, there is no doubt that Aaron is a case study in self-branding and industry relations.  This is a great industry that has lost some of the characters that the oldtimers seemed to embody.  Aaron is a great promoter, talented artist, and will always be remembered as a rainbow of color in an industry that sometimes just needs to have a good laugh with good friends.  Love you buddy and all the best!  See you in Philly!

“WHERE TATTOO AND SOCIAL NETWORKING MEET, AND WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT”
The Aaron Is.. “comprehensive blending of social interaction and tattoo skill to make you cooler” workshop.
This class will be 2-3 hrs and is dedicated to the new, up and coming, socially inept, or just plain shy artist wanting to learn some technical tips of tattoo and some ways to become more involved in the “tattoo scene”, whether it be meeting other artists, magazine staff, or just new clients….knowing how to present yourself sometimes means more than your portfolio.
This workshop is going to cover the basics of communication, networking and using your own personality and confidence to bring you and your tattooing to an entirely new place. While I will be demonstrating my techniques and tips on my own photo-realism style of tattoo, I will also be discussing the huge importance of being who you are openly, and realizing/embracing your actual skill level and how to develop the added skills to move ahead in the grand scheme to ensure that you see and enjoy the full benefits of this trade.
Understanding the importance of the actual tattooing is one step, and knowing how to interact and use who you are to excel in this field socially is something most artists leave to chance. A great tattoo artist is just that, but once the ability to take advantage of public and private social interaction is added properly to the mix, the possibilities almost immediately opened up as do the opportunity for new and greater experiences. The convention circuit provides an amazing platform for this, and I can help you understand how to use this platform to the fullest. These are all things that will be covered and are usually never addressed at all, and if so are looked at in a poor light. Humble and quiet is nice, but one thing I have learned in my experience, it is not always memorable.
For other info, to book a spot, or just ask a question….
hit me up on Facebook:
or just find me on the floor to sign up.
*As an added bonus, i will be sharing some Karaoke tips, as well as how to pull off girls jeans, and the importance of accessorizing with said jeans the right way, as well as meeting your possible future ex wife at a convention.
